Introducion to Korean Food & Table Barbeque.
Korean barbecue, or grill,
refers to the Korean
method of grilling
beef, pork, chicken
and other types of meat or vegetables. Such
dishes are prepared at the diner's table on gas or electric grills that are
built into the center of the table itself. Most diners enjoy doing their own
grilling at the table.
A popular way of eating Korean barbecue is to wrap the meat
with lettuce and add condiments such as pajori
(spicy scallion,
spring onion salad) and ssamjang
(a spicy paste made of soy
bean paste mixed with chili paste). To
eat - take a lettuce, add vegetables, a dab of chili paste sauce, rice and a
slice of hot meat, wrap immediately and eat with your hands.
Korean barbecue is not only popular among the native
Koreans, but it is also renowned for its international popularity.
All the food is placed on the table at once.
In many cases, Korean food are not taken as a
single dish but taken together with other food. This habit has been
cultivated through long experience that certain combinations of food, when
taken together, bring about harmony and synergy effect in taste and nutrition.
